If you’ve been putting off going responsive with your White label dating site, Google’s latest announcement might be that last push you need to take action! Starting from 21st April 2015, Google will use “mobile-friendliness” as a ranking signal in its search results and reward those websites that are fully optimized for mobile platforms. This has been named “Mobilegeddon”.
Most of the modifications to this all-important Google Search Algorithm have only a small impact on the search results, but, Google says the effect of this change will be very profound. So it is seriously important for the white label dating business owner to respond accordingly. Effective as of now, Google will factor content from mobile apps (a feature called App Indexing) when listing your mobile search results. Android users who are signed into their Google account will begin to see apps more prominently in search listings.
What Do I Need To Know About Google’s Responsive Algorithm
1) The change will begin on Tuesday 21st April 2015 and will take a few days (up to a week) to roll out completely; and
2) There is no ‘in between’: you’re either mobile-friendly or you’re not.
These changes will make it a lot easier for mobile users to find relevant and high-quality search results that are optimized for their devices and therefore create a better search experience. Google provides very clear recommendations on what you can do to make your website mobile-friendly.
Is My Online Dating Site Responsive?
Not mobile-friendly: Page appears not mobile-friendly because
* Text is too small to read on a mobile device
* Content and images are wider than your mobile device screen
* The links are too close together and difficult to click on
* Mobile viewpoint is not set
If your business website has not yet adopted a responsive design, here is where to begin:
Check out Google’s guide to mobile-friendly websites. https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/?hl=en
Take the Mobile-Friendly Test to see how your website stacks up. You can test a single page or all to see exactly what Google’s search algorithm is looking for. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/
Your web developer can generate a Mobile Usability Report to help identify any issues with your website when viewed on a mobile device.
Google recommends responsive web design as the industry best practice for websites. A responsive website seamlessly adapts itself to whichever device it is being viewed from.
While responsive web design should be your ultimate goal, creating a fully responsive site can present a challenge for many small business owners. However, simply using Google’s guidelines to optimize your existing website for mobile platforms will help greatly in the meantime.
